| In 2010, The University of West Alabama celebrates its 175th
anniversary. Founded only five years after the signing of the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek between the Choctaw nation and the United States, Livingston Female Academy was created in 1835 to educate potential teachers for west Alabama.
Today, students
obtain degrees
through not only
the Julia S.
Tutwiler College of
Education, but
also the College
of Business, the
College of
Liberal Arts,
the College of
Natural Sciences
and Mathematics,
the Division of
Nursing and the
College of
Graduate
Studies. In
addition, many
of UWA’s
students
complete their
studies through
a vibrant online
program.
This
year, the
University
honors the
connections
between
yesterday, today
and tomorrow and
invites everyone
to be a part of
the celebration. |
